Become a MUSC Physician Assistant Studies Clinical Preceptor

Program Overview

The Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies program at MUSC’s College of Health Professions aims to provide the comprehensive didactic, laboratory, and clinical instruction necessary to produce competent, caring physician assistants (PA). Graduates will be prepared to practice as members of the health care team and will help to increase access to care for all people.
Utilization of a practicing PA can help improve patient flow in high census outpatient clinics and in-patient settings and help decrease appointment delays. This helps to optimize patient satisfaction and care while meeting the challenges of the current provider shortages affecting many of our states.

Clinical Education

After 15 months of course and laboratory work, the curriculum culminates in a 12-month clinical phase where second-year PA students complete 45 weeks of clinical rotations. They include rotations in mental health, women’s health, internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics, emergency medicine, surgery, an adjunct clinical experience (ACE), and an elective of the student’s choosing.
