On October 20 and 21, undergraduate students from colleges across the United States participated in the Department of Healthcare Leadership & Management’s second Undergraduate Health Administration Case Competition in Charleston, SC. The case competition allows students enrolled in Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA) Certified undergraduate health administration programs to participate in finding solutions to relevant health care issues, while building necessary professional development skills.
The event kicked off with dinner and a keynote address from Caroline DeLongchamps, MUSC Health Manager for Patient-Family-Centered Care. On Friday, students presented their findings from the case focused on patient- and family-centered care and the engagement of patients and families in reducing hospital-acquired infections to the panel of judges. After the competition, the participants were given the opportunity to have a private tour of the Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital.
