The Medical University of South Carolina's Master of Science in Pathologists' Assistant Studies (MSPATH) program is designed to help students develop the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to thrive in this specialized field.

Through an immersive, on-campus learning experience, students build a strong foundation in pathology, anatomy, and laboratory medicine while training in dedicated pathology labs, cadaver anatomy labs, and state-of-the-art virtual reality anatomy labs. Students then apply their knowledge during supervised clinical rotations at hospitals and pathology laboratories, where they gain experience processing specimens, performing gross dissections, and participating in postmortem examinations.

Upon graduation, students are prepared to work in hospitals, pathology laboratories, forensic settings, and other specialized healthcare environments. They also graduate eligible to sit for the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification exam, an important step toward professional practice.
