Meet Rosemarie Jones, Class of 2020

What South Carolina Technical College did you attend?

I attended Trident Technical College and graduated from their Medical Assisting program and then decided to continue on and get my Associate of Science in Healthcare.

Why did you choose the HCS program?

It was always a dream of mine to attend the Medical University of South Carolina, so when I found out about the Bachelor Science of Healthcare Studies Program, I immediately applied.

What was the most valuable part of the program?

I couldn’t devalue any part of the program. Every class was so useful and informative for me in preparation for my future endeavors as I continue to advance in my education in Public Health. If I had to pick one thing, I would probably say our Practicum because it was a cumulation of everything we learned into a final project. It was very impressive and by finishing it, it made me realize just how much I had learned.

What are you doing post-graduation?

I have been accepted to Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health’s Population Health Management Program online, and I will start in Fall 2021.

Currently, I am seeking employment to keep me busy. I feel utterly lost without being in school. It has been all I have known for the past 4 years. I am confident I will find something interesting to keep me occupied.

After finishing my master’s degree, I plan to continue my education and pursue either a Ph.D. or a DrPH in Public Health in addition to working and taking care of my family. I’m proud to be a good role model for my 13-year-old daughter who is excelling in school as well.

What advice would you give to someone considering this program?

I would highly recommend this program to anyone entering the health field, specifically Public Health. Every class provides rich and comprehensive knowledge that can be used in any medical profession.
