Students in MUSC's Hybrid DPT or Hybrid PTD programs can earn their degree from anywhere in the U.S.

Are you considering a hybrid program and wondering if it's the right fit for you?

Balancing flexibility and practical training, MUSC’s Hybrid Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and Hybrid Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTDh) programs offer a unique blend of online and onsite learning experiences. From morning virtual lectures to hands-on practice, each day is structured to ensure that students receive a comprehensive education while maintaining balance with their personal lives. Here’s a glimpse into what a typical day might entail if you were to enroll as a student.

Morning: Virtual Learning

You’ll begin your day by logging in to MUSC’s online learning platform for virtual lectures. Your instructors will lead real-time interactive sessions with presentations, videos, and case studies, fostering a collaborative environment despite the physical distance.

Mid-Day: Collaborative Learning

You’ll engage in lively discussions and group work with faculty members and peers, ensuring active participation and mutual support.

Afternoon: Hands-On Practice and Community Engagement

During the virtual learning components of the curriculum, you’ll be encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities and community outreach, such as volunteer opportunities, research, and advocacy efforts, that enrich your educational experience and contribute meaningfully to the field.

Night: Reflection

You’ll reflect on your progress as a healthcare professional, steadily moving towards your goal of enhancing the quality of life for individuals of all ages and abilities. With eight semesters to complete your studies, you’re on a focused path to becoming a skilled physical or occupational therapist.

Immersive Clinical Experiences

Twice a semester, you’ll travel to Charleston for 6-12 days of onsite clinical immersive lab experiences. Here, you’ll practice assessment techniques, therapeutic exercises, and problem-solving skills under the expert guidance of faculty and skilled lab instructors.

Balancing Commitments

The hybrid model's flexibility allows you to balance academic rigor with personal responsibilities, making it possible for you to pursue your education without compromising other important aspects of your life.
